CRM & customer data

From a QR code to a useful customer relationship

Design the route after the scan: a clear promise, appropriate qualification, useful information and a confirmed handover into the system that needs it.

A QR code led branch visitors into Shinhan Bank’s AR activity on their own phones. The customer story explains the appreciation campaign.

A QR code gives a person a quick route from a product, receipt, branch or event into a digital task. The quality of that connection depends on whether the person reaches what they expected and can complete it.

For a customer programme, the design extends from the physical prompt through qualification, recognition and confirmation to the system that needs the result. The code is a useful entry point within that larger service.

The promise beside the code

State the reason to scan in the language of the task: register the product, join the activity, find the information or claim an eligible offer. The landing experience should deliver the same promise.

A customer in a shop may have little time, an ordinary phone and an unreliable connection. Make the purpose, material conditions and next action understandable before asking them to work through a long form.

In Shinhan Bank’s branch campaign, QR entry led to a short AR activity on the visitor’s phone. In the Highlands Coffee programme, a receipt code qualified entry into a purchase-linked Mini App experience. Those entry and qualification steps serve different purposes.

Qualification is part of the experience

A code may identify the campaign or location without proving that a purchase occurred. A separate receipt reference, product identifier or staff-issued entitlement may be needed, depending on the programme.

Decide what an invalid, repeated or already-used entry should do. Give the person a clear message and the operating team enough information to investigate. A customer who has legitimately qualified should not need to guess which department can correct the record.

Ask for information where it helps the task

Explain why a receipt, account check or contact detail is needed. Reuse appropriate information already available through the selected channel instead of asking the customer to enter it repeatedly.

Keep recognition and communication choices distinct. A platform account or recognised phone number may help link an interaction, but the proposed follow-up still needs the appropriate basis and preferences for its purpose.

The Vietnamese examples often use Zalo Official Accounts and Mini Apps. For an Australian programme, the same customer task may suit a website, an existing app, email or SMS. The experience and available channel functions need to be assessed for that implementation.

Connect the confirmation with the operating record

Customers need to know whether the task finished. Staff need a reference that leads to the same outcome in the responsible system. Define what happens when the submission succeeds but a later connection is delayed or rejected.

For a promotion, the result may be an entitlement or saved voucher. For a registration, it may be a verified product record. For an enquiry, it may be a task accepted by the team that will respond.

PangoCDP can connect the relevant interaction with a profile and configured journey. Twin CRM can support the receiving team’s daily work. Customised software and integration can connect the particular registration, commerce or service system involved.

Check the complete route before putting the code in public

Test scanning from the actual print size and setting, including ordinary devices, connection loss, repeated entry and a customer who cannot complete the preferred path. Check that the destination, conditions and assistance route are still correct after a material change.

Measure successful completion and the later operational outcome alongside entry activity. Give the code a managed destination so the business can maintain the journey during the campaign or product’s useful life.

Twin can design the experience and its connections around that route. Bring the physical setting, the customer’s task and the record that confirms completion.
